Little Home Builder is proud to open the second annual scholarship for aspiring Colorado tradespeople. Apply by July 1, 2026.
Last year, we launched something that meant a great deal to us — the Caleb Sabados Memorial Scholarship. What started as a way to honor a remarkable young man has already changed one student’s trajectory, and this year we’re opening applications again.
Honoring Caleb’s Legacy
Caleb Sabados was a Frederick High School graduate who lettered academically and athletically and had just begun his apprenticeship as an electrician when his life was tragically cut short on Memorial Day 2024 at just 20 years old. He lived by the motto “Go big or go home,” and his energy, drive, and love for the trades left a lasting impression on everyone around him.
This scholarship was created to keep that spirit alive — in the next generation of tradespeople who share his passion for hands-on work and building something real.
Year One Made a Difference
We’re proud to share that our inaugural 2025 scholarship was awarded to Kael Rundquist, another Frederick High graduate, who is now studying Diesel and Heavy Equipment at Pittsburg State. Kael is exactly the kind of student this scholarship was built for, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch his journey unfold.
Now It’s Your Turn — or Someone You Know
For 2026, we’re awarding a $2,500 scholarship to a student pursuing a career in the skilled trades. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Have a 2.7 GPA or higher
- Have a meaningful connection to Colorado — either raised here or planning to live, study, or train here
- Be a high school graduate or current college student
- Be currently enrolled in or accepted to a trade school or undergraduate skilled trades program
Instead of a written essay, applicants submit a video essay sharing why they’re excited to pursue a skilled trade, how they hope to shape the future of tradework in the age of AI, and the role they see themselves playing in keeping these professions strong.
Applications close July 1, 2026.
Why This Matters
Skilled trades aren’t going anywhere. As technology reshapes industries across the board, the people who build, fix, and create with their hands are more essential than ever. This scholarship is our way of investing in those people — and in the Colorado communities they’ll serve.
If you know someone who belongs in the trades, share this with them. Applications are open now at www.littlehomebuilder.com/scholarship
